Flour Mill & Saw Mill

Our flour mill, just like our saw mill, is fully operational and is demonstrated every Harvest Festival. It has been rebuilt from parts and is in working condition.

Flour in the Pioneer area was very difficult to make and was packed in barrels or dense woven bags after purchase. After steam power machines arrived in the area with the railroads, flour mills also arrived.

Pioneer Threshermans Association, has such a mill , manufactured in approximately 1941. The company Meadow Mills in North Caroline USA is still in operation.

Our mill is a 24” stone burr mill, 2 vertical (upright) stones grind the grain to produce flour. We use organic wheat to make whole wheat flour. We demonstrate this mill at our Harvest Festival in September. You can see it operating and purchase samples for yourselves.

This flour has no preservatives, and should be kept frozen until it is used. Makes great pancakes we are told.
